Hot wax processing is used in many sectors of the packaging industry. In order to classify, the main users can be divided into the following categories:
(1) Corrugated materials, such as finished goods and poultry shipping containers.
(2) Solid cardboard, such as a folded carton for making frozen food.
(3) Flexible packaging, such as the inner packaging of cereals and the outer packaging of the packaging.
(4) Paper cup and paper container industry.
Corrugated container board thermal wax treatment is applied to corrugated containers more than any other base paper. There are about three basic processing methods for about 108 million kg per year: full wax impregnation saturation; partial wax impregnation, curtain coating.
Which method you choose depends on the end use of the carton. However, in order to design a carton, in addition to waxing, you should pay attention to the original paper. The base paper (ie boxboard or container board) is a combination of linerboard, corrugated medium and try mixture (the liner board is the top layer of the box board and the corrugated core board is used as the corrugated layer).
The linerboard must have a suitable moisture content and a good fiber length and distribution. Corrugated medium must have sufficient compressive strength. It should be pretty and not brittle, easy to bend and not soft.
The box board is made of kraft pulp, semi-chemical pulp and waste paper pulp. Kraft pulp is used in the manufacture of linerboard. Semi-chemical pulp and waste paper pulp are mostly used to make corrugated medium paper. Imitation corrugated core paper is made from recycled pulp. Because the fibers produced from recycled pulp are shorter in quality than the fibrils, the paperboard made from waste paper fibers is less flexible.
